iKea: Painful (Part 2)
Kiss Kiss by Chris Brown

A few lessons learned on assembling the Expedit Bookcase... this is the 3rd Expedit bookcase I have assembled within my lifetime and sense being uncommon, and previous mistakes not used for reference, it is actually halfway assembled in pieces in the middle of my living room, surrounded by cutlery, nail cutting tools, bloody paper towels and pieces of carboard and plastic... there it shall remain until I get my hand stitched together and am able to continue the project...

  • Avoid using sharp objects (i.e. knife) when improvising a screwdriver.
  • Avoid use of cutlery altogether when it comes to furniture assembly (yes, even though sometimes you may feel the urge to use that cleaver that's been lying around the kitchen for half a decade, still in bubble wrap)
  • When directions call for 2 people, TRUST the directions.
  • When directions call for 2 people and the item you are assembling is bigger than you (height and/or weight) -i.e. Wall Unit... definitely TRUST the directions...
  • The top, bottom and sides of a square bookcase are not interchangeable... nor are they labeled, so figure out which is which before screwing anything together.

Number of wood stick thingies broken in half: 8
Pieces of hardware from Home Depot used: 14
Stitches holding my hand together: <pending>
